Yes, it is truly a mesmerizing story. Now, I am planning to read one of Lisa See's other novels --
Peony in Love.

Elaine, I agree wholeheartedly with your recommendation of "Shanghai Girls." It's a terrific story, with many themes which provide fodder for discussion. Not being blessed with a sister, I especially appreciated the intimate glimpse into the relationship between the Chin sisters. Their devotion, jealousy, sacrifice, and competitiveness all seemed so real.

John,

Rushmore is one of my all-time favorites, so I was thrilled to see that you reviewed it. It's the one that let me know Bill Murray had a little more going on tha nhis SNL days and that Owen Wilson had writing chops (both Wilsons still should probably forgo the acting leads though). Thanks for the great review; I may have to check it out and watch it again!

Dan, I just looked at www.cakewrecks.com, which is far more funny than I could ever imagine a blog about cakes could be. If the book is even half as funny as the blog, it will be a tremendous read. Thanks for the laughs.
