According to the National Notary Association, a notary is a "public servant appointed by state government to witness the signing of important documents and administer oaths." A Notary will ask to see a form of identification, such as state issued driver's license or a passport, in order to complete the notification process. Please know that a Notary cannot give legal advice and none of Howard County Library's Notaries can notarize immigration-related documents.
