The Mysterious Death of Edgar Allan Poe
On October 3, 1849, celebrated author Edgar Allan Poe was found on the streets of Baltimore, "in great distress...and in need of immediate assistance." He died four days later at Washington College Hospital, and the mystery surrounding his condition and death has gripped the American psyche ever since. Jeff Korman, Manager of the Maryland State Library Resource Center, illuminates the circumstances surrounding Poe's death and its aftermath.
