Welcome, Future Volunteers!
![]() Volunteers play an integral role at Howard County Library System (HCLS) by providing valuable assistance to HCLS staff and customers. Our goal is to place volunteers in meaningful areas that will provide a satisfying experience while contributing to the high-quality public education HCLS delivers to everyone in the community. The benefits of volunteering include
Middle school, high school and college students wishing to volunteer (including for Student Service Learning hours) should visit the Student Volunteer page. All other future volunteers, please visit the Volunteer Commitment page and Current Volunteer Assignments before completing an application. Applications are available at every HCLS location and online. Volunteers must be at least 13 years old; parental consent is required for applicants under 16.
