Welcome Future Volunteers!


Volunteers play an integral role to the Library by providing valuable services that assist staff and the public. Our goal is to place volunteers in areas that will provide a satisfying experience while helping the Library.

Students wishing to volunteer (for Student Service Learning hours) should visit the Student Volunteer page.

The benefits of volunteering include:
  • Learning new skills.
  • Gaining valid work experience.
  • Staying current with the latest books and Library happenings.
  • Meeting new people.
  • Serving your community in a meaningful way.
  • Receiving waiver of Library fines after six months or 200 hours of service, for the duration of your volunteer commitment.
  • Becoming part of an award-winning Library system.

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old; parental consent is required for applicants under 16. Please return completed applications to any Howard County Library branch or send to:
