Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge, Savage - The Bollman Truss Railroad Bridge, built in 1869, is the sole surviving example of the first all-iron bridge design widely used for railroads.

Lake Kittamaqundi, located in Columbia Town Center, takes its name from the first recorded Native American Settlement in Howard County and means "meeting place."
The People Tree, located in the Lakefront Plaza adjacent to Lake Kittamaqundi, symbolizes the feeling of closeness between the people of Columbia. The sculpture was produced by Pierre du Fayet.

Built in 1835, the Thomas Viaduct spans the Patapsco River between Relay and Elkridge and is one of the oldest multiple stone-arched railroad bridges in America.

Andrew Ellicott House - Originally a tavern, the inn was purchased by James and Andrew Ellicott in 1810. It is now the site of the Elkridge Furnace Inn.

The Howard County Courthouse, built from blocks of local granite, was completed in  1843.
Opened in 1837, the Patapsco Female Institute educated girls 12-18 in the natural sciences, history, languages and the arts.
The Patapsco Female Institute overlooks the Patapsco River Valley from the highest point in Ellicott City.

Built for the B & O Railroad, the Tom Thumb was the first American-built locomotive to operate in regular service.
