More than 1,700 fifth graders will fill Merriweather Post Pavilion on April 25 for the highly anticipated 2025 Battle of the Books. Students from every public elementary school—and several private schools—have spent months preparing to answer detailed questions about nine assigned books in a lively, arena‑style competition. This beloved A+ Partners in Education initiative continues to grow, now boasting 352 teams that creatively design costumes, posters, and team names. Special recognition will also be given to 2025 Spelling Bee champion Luke Noblezada and runner‑up Meqdim Abera. With enthusiastic community support, Battle of the Books remains one of Howard County’s most popular and inspirational reading events.
