Welcome to HiTech, Howard County Library System’s award-winning STEAM program! Using advanced teaching tools and technology, our expert instructors encourage and inspire the next generation of STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) professionals. Held year-round, our classes foster free expression while teaching critical skills and exciting STEAM concepts.
Summer HiTech
Join us for six weeks of engaging, hands-on STEAM courses. Classes are held from 9 am to 3 pm each weekday. Students are invited to showcase their STEAM projects, experiments, and games at the H3 Carnival. Registration opens in early summer. Sign up for our HiTech newsletter (coming soon) to stay updated.

2013 Top Innovator
The Urban Libraries Council (ULC), a membership association of leading public library systems in the U.S. and Canada, named Howard County Library System (HCLS) a “2013 Top Innovator” for HiTech. In announcing the award, ULC President and CEO Susan Benton said, “On behalf of the ULC community throughout North America, I congratulate Howard County Library System for being selected as a 2013 Top Innovator. HCLS staff are commended for setting the pace for growth, change and innovation in the field.”
