A+ Educator Card Details
As part of the A+ Partners in Education initiative, Howard County Library System offers an A+ Educator library card. This card gives teachers, faculty members, and home school instructors special borrowing privileges for materials used in preparing lessons or in assisting students with assignments.
Educators are encouraged to use the A+ Educator library card in addition to their personal cards. Use the educator card for school-related materials; use personal cards to check out items for personal reading, listening, and viewing.
- Loan Period: 42 days
- Borrowing Limit: 120 items
- Overdue Fines: None
- Renewals: 2 automatic renewals on eligible items, if not requested by another community member
Educators may borrow all library materials except artwork, children’s launchpads, fiction DVDs, DIY items, interlibrary loan materials, and STEM activity kits.
Bring the following item to any branch to get an A+ Educator Card.
- Public school teachers: School identification and one additional form of identification with your home address.
- Preschool, private school, & childcare teachers:
School identification and one additional form of identification with your home address. - Homeschool parents & guardians: Proof of Howard County residence and proof of homeschooling in Howard County, including compliance with application regulations (Assurance of Consent Form filed with the Howard County Board of Education or Proof of Enrollment in a nonpublic entity registered with the Maryland Department of Education to supervise home instruction).
- Post-secondary faculty: School identification and one additional form of identification with your home address.
If you do not have an ID card please bring a piece of letterhead stationery, a check stub, or a postmarked envelope with the school’s name.
Teachers do not need to live in Howard County.
