Merriweather Arts and Culture Center has been recognized with a 2026 I Partner with My Public Library Award for its partnership with Howard County Library System.

Merriweather Arts and Culture Center has received a 2026 I Partner with My Public Library Award from the international nonprofit Let’s Move in Libraries, recognizing its partnership with Howard County Library System and its commitment to fostering a lifelong love of reading.

HCLS nominated Merriweather for helping transform Battle of the Books, the county’s fifth-grade reading competition, into a signature community celebration. Since the event moved to Merriweather in 2022, more than 1,800 students and their coaches have gathered annually to celebrate reading alongside families, educators, volunteers, and community partners.

The award recognizes partnerships that create meaningful community impact through public libraries. Merriweather was one of 10 organizations selected from nominations submitted by libraries across North America and the Philippines.

We are grateful to Merriweather Arts and Culture Center for helping elevate reading as an achievement worthy of celebration and for creating memorable experiences for thousands of Howard County students and families.
